EVERY BEATLES BEAT - Luke Herbert

Every Beatles Beat is a world-first, cinema-scale audiovisual installation: a sonic pilgrimage through the complete Beatles catalogue, curated by drummer and producer Luke Herbert.

Descend into the cellar-dark basement gallery & The Vault at the Fun Haus Gosford— reminiscent of The Cavern Club in Liverpool — and watch a continuous film unfurl: a filmed snippet of every Beatles studio recording in strict chronological order, lovingly reconstructed over two years. Recorded on same-era microphones and period-accurate Beatles outboard gear at Studios 301 Sydney (affiliated with Abbey Road Institute, London), the work seeks not reproduction but reincarnation — breathing new cinematic life into the sonic textures that shaped generations, seen from behind the kit through the perspective of Ringo Starr performed by session drummer Luke Herbert.

Luke has spent two decades performing and recording with artists including Paul Kelly, Kasey Chambers, Brian Cadd, Stevie Wright and many more. He’s worked alongside Grammy-winning producers Niko Bolas and Daniel Tashian (Ringo Starr, Kacey Musgraves), forging a living link between his practice and the Beatles lineage. Luke loves passing on his passion for drumming and also teaches drums lessons locally on the central coast at Music Works Erina and in over 10 schools across the coast for The Central Coast Conservatory of Music, bands programs.

The installation features rare archival photography by celebrated Australian rock photographer Phillip Morris (Paul McCartney Wings tour, 1976), original session images by Tim Brand and award winning The Filmery (Jack & Duncan Toombs), and curated original art. Woven throughout is a personal thread: four generations of Beatles fans in one family, showing how this music ties lives together across time and continents.

Every Beatles Beat is archive and artifact, pilgrimage and play — where technical devotion and intimate storytelling become one.
