Starting A Reader's Journal At Erina Library
Participants will discover how using a simple notebook alongside their fiction and non-fiction reading can help capture thoughts, questions, emotional responses and connections.
The session will explore:
- What a reader’s journal is (and what it isn’t)
- Why readers keep journals - for enjoyment, reflection and connection, with excerpts from well‑known writers who kept notes on what they read
- Different styles of reader’s journals, with practical examples
- Simple, accessible ways to start and keep the practice going
- A short, optional reflective exercise to try during or after the talk
This session is designed to be welcoming and supportive of all readers, including those who don’t see themselves as writers.
Note: please bring your own notebook and pen to use on the day.
