Inspired by the confessional intimacy of girl in red and Clairo, the fuzzy nostalgia of Beabadoobee and Wolf Alice and a bit of the glam alt-pop boldness of Chappell Roan, their sound is at once delicate and intense.

Based in Newcastle, Australia, Butterknife is a two-piece band consisting of Gracie May (vocalist/producer) and Bree Redman (drummer). Their chemistry brings both depth and dynamism to their music.

This has seen them support Jack River, Charley, Telenova, Little Birdy, Dune Rats, The Vanns, Teenage Dads, and Slowly Slowly, as well as perform at Groovin' The Moo, Rolling Sets (2023), The Gumball (2024), and Portside Festival (2024). They also won NSW in The Terrys' Battle of the Bands (2023).
