Tyler Saunders, known as TooLa, is a 16 year old Aboriginal rapper and producer from Biripi Country in NSW (Taree). Music has always been a big part of his life, growing up around a creative family where music was just normal to have it playing or being made.

He started really young. At three, he was already out busking and somehow keeping rhythm better than most people would expect from a kid that age.

By the time he was ten, he knew music was what he wanted to do. He spent a lot of time in his room writing and rapping, putting bits online and slowly getting more confident with it.

At fourteen, he got into producing and started teaching himself how to structure a song in his own unique style. He learned to shape his sound properly and is constantly learning.

Now he writes, raps and produces. His music is honest and comes from his own experiences. A storyteller. He's still learning, still building, but he's serious about it and just genuinely loving creating. TooLa gained prominent national recognition after being named the winner of the 2026 triple j Unearthed High Indigenous Initiative.
